Molas

Molas are hand-made textiles that make up an important part of the traditional clothing of Guna women, native to Panama and Colombia. They are made using appliqué and reverse appliqué techniques, in which fabric is cut out and layered in various forms to create designs. Traditionally, the designs are geometric patterns or depictions of animals native to the land. A lot of work goes into making Molas, and they are an important part of the Guna culture.
