Wayuú Handbags
The Wayuú people live in the arid plains of the north-eastern Guajira peninsula of Colombia. For the Wayuú, weaving is an ancestral tradition, and a way to express their day-to-day lives. Their work represents their interpretation of the world in a geometrical design, from stars to tortoise shells to horse tracks. The most popular Wayuú handbag is known as a "susu" and is slung over one shoulder.
