Chumbes

The Chumbe is a ceremonial belt worn by Inga and Kamëntsá women in southwest Colombia. Also known as "chumpis," these belts are worn to protect the womb, and their diamond patterns represent the womb as well as the earth, with its four cardinal directions, to symbolize protection for both where life begins and where it is spent.
